Thesis - Redesigning Ronkonkoma Train Station
The design concept for this train station revolves around showcasing its structural framework to the surrounding environment. By maximizing the entry of natural light, the station generates dynamic shadows that transform daily with the sun's movement. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic experience but also reduces electricity and energy consumption throughout the morning hours.
Floor Plan
Placing the café at the heart of the train station hub facilitates more efficient circulation of foot traffic. By positioning the ticket machines adjacent to the north and south stairs, travelers are prompted to purchase their tickets before boarding, resulting in a smoother transition. Additionally, large screens displaying train schedules from every angle provide reassurance to passengers about the timing of their next train.
